Body of private workers found; kin protest

Kanpur: Body of Monu Jaiswal, 30, a private worker and resident of Nai Basti in Kanpur’s Cantt police station area, was found in Shuklaganj in Unnao, following which his family staged a road protest at Gola Ghat trisection on Tuesday evening .

On receiving information about the commotion, DCP Satyajit Gupta and ADCP Shiva Singh, after considerable effort, pacified and calmed the family.

Jaiswal had gone to Shuklaganj on Sunday evening to collect a debt of Rs 20,000, after which he did not return. On Monday, his body was found near Marala Chowki area of Unnao.

His father Omprakash stated that when Monu did not return by Sunday evening, family members began searching for him, but he could not be traced. The family then filed a missing person complaint at the Cantt police station. At around 10 am on Monday, Unnao police informed Monu’s sister Saloni. The family members reached the spot and identified the body through his clothing.

Monu’s wife Antima, a resident of Faizabad, stated that her marriage to Monu Jaiswal had taken place 7 months ago on September 26, 2025. She said that she had last spoken to him on the phone on Sunday night at 9 pm, and that Monu appeared frightened. The call suddenly disconnected and later the phone was switched off. Antima attempted to call more than 30 times but could not make contact.

At 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon, family members placed the body at Gola Ghat Chauraha in Cantt Kanpur, and staged a demonstration for 1 hour 30 minutes.

DCP (East) Satyajit Gupta said a murder case has been registered on the basis of the family’s written complaint. He stated that family members had placed Monu’s mortal remains on the road causing a jam, and that after pacifying everyone, the body was sent for the last rites.

The police will investigate, and then take action against those found involved in this incident, the DCP said.
