Walled City bustles with Eid celebrations
Jaipur: The Walled City witnessed a festive atmosphere Thursday as people gathered in large numbers for Eid prayers at mosques across the old city. The biggest congregation was held at Eidgah Mosque around 8am, while Jama Masjid and nearby areas in Johri Bazaar also witnessed heavy footfall.
Keeping the rush in mind, Jaipur traffic police imposed special traffic diversions between 6 am and 10 am. Several routes in and around the walled city were either closed or diverted to manage movement and avoid congestion during prayer timings.
The stretch from TP Nagar to Dhobighat Crossing remained completely closed, while vehicles were diverted through alternate routes, including Ramgarh Modh, Jal Mahal, Subhash Chowk and Gurudwara Modh.
Heavy vehicles entering Jaipur from Delhi were redirected towards the expressway from Chandwaji to ease congestion inside the city.
Traffic movement around Jama Masjid in Johri Bazaar was also restricted during prayers, with parking prohibited in the area. Normal traffic remained suspended between Badi Chaupar and Sanganeri Gate, while diversions were put in place through Tripolia Bazaar, Minerva Circle and Ramniwas Bagh.
MD Road also saw restrictions during the prayer hours, with vehicles being diverted through adjoining routes. Police personnel and barricading were deployed at several locations to ensure smooth traffic management.
Despite the diversions, markets and food stalls in parts of the walled city saw good footfall after prayers, with the overall atmosphere remaining festive through the morning.
