Old village feud behind wedding murder, main accused held

Jaipur: Jaipur police cracked the murder case of a Bundi youth who was beaten to death during a wedding function in Sitapura earlier this month, arresting the main accused, who was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000.

Two other accused involved in the conspiracy were arrested earlier.

Police said the murder was allegedly planned to avenge an old rivalry linked to a dispute in the accused's native village.

The victim, Chet Ram Gurjar from Nainwa in Bundi district, came to attend a wedding at Secretariat Nagar in Sitapura on May 1 when he was allegedly attacked by a group armed with iron pipes and sticks. He later died while being taken to hospital.

DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Verma said the main accused, Kaushal Nagar alias Dhakad Sarkar, 26, was arrested from Pratap Nagar after an extensive search operation by a special police team.

"The accused switched off his mobile phone, vacated his rented accommodation, and went into hiding after the incident. Our team tracked his movements and arrested him," Verma said.

Police said raids are underway to arrest other suspects linked to the murder case.
