Heatwave to intensify across Rajasthan from May 25, Jaipur may touch 45°C
Jaipur: Rajasthan is set to reel under intensified heatwave conditions from Monday, with the Met office, Jaipur, forecasting a further rise in temperatures across most parts of the state. The weather department has warned that maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 45°C or above in several districts in the coming days.
Sri Ganganagar remained the hottest place in Rajasthan on Sunday at 46°C. Vanasthali recorded 45.1°C, Alwar 45°C, Churu 44.9°C, Kota 44.8°C, Phalodi 44.8°C and Bikaner 44.8°C, Barmer at 44.3°C, Chittorgarh at 44.2°C, Jaisalmer at 44°C, Lunkaransar 43.6°C, Fatehpur and Dausa 43°C each, Jhunjhunu, Karauli and Sangaria at 42.8°C each, Jodhpur city and Bhilwara at 42.2°C each, and a maximum temperature of 42.0°C was recorded at Sikar.
Jaipur experienced intense heat on Sunday, with the city recording a maximum temperature of 43.6°C, which was 2.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 31.4°C, 3.5 degrees above average. For Monday, the Met Office said that for the first time in this season, Jaipur is likely to record a maximum temperature of nearly 45°C.
The ongoing heatwave has started affecting daily life across Rajasthan. Roads and marketplaces are witnessing reduced movement during afternoon hours, while hospitals are reporting a rise in dehydration, fatigue, heat exhaustion and heatstroke-related complaints.
