Refusal to share beedi sparks knife attack in Mandsaur, one injured
Indore: A dispute over a bidi escalated into a knife attack in Mandsaur’s Daloda town on Saturday night, leaving a 23-year-old man injured. One person was arrested in the case.
The injured, identified as Vijay Nath, a resident of Kumarwada, had gone to a tea stall on Daloda Krishi Upaj Mandi Road on Saturday night. According to his family members, a man identified as Siraj arrived there and asked Vijay for a bidi. When Vijay refused, an argument broke out between the two.
The altercation soon turned violent, with Siraj allegedly attacking Vijay with a knife, injuring him in hand. People present at the spot intervened and rushed Vijay to Daloda police station, following which he was sent to district hospital for treatment. Family members said that the knife caused a deep wound on Vijay’s hand.
Additional SP T S Baghel said that Siraj has been taken into custody. Police are examining the circumstances that led to the attack.
