MPIDC cancels Hazargo Industries’ land allotment weeks after major fire
Times News Network
Indore: Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has cancelled allotment of two industrial plots in Pithampur’s Sector-3 to Hazargo Industries Pvt Ltd over alleged violations of lease conditions, operation of unauthorised activities and running of highly polluting processes on the premises.
The allotment of plots numbered 1018 and 1019 was cancelled on June 2 following a review by MPIDC.
The action comes in the backdrop of a massive fire that broke out on the company’s premises on April 21. The fire quickly spread to at least four adjoining industrial units, causing widespread damage and prompting a large-scale firefighting and rescue operation involving multiple government agencies.
“A detailed review conducted after the incident found that the allotted land was allegedly being used for activities contrary to approved industrial use. We observed highly polluting and unauthorised operations being carried out from the premises, which violates lease conditions and regulatory provisions governing industrial areas,” MPIDC Indore executive director, Himanshu Prajapati, said.
Officials said that industrial plots allotted by MPIDC can be used only for approved industrial activities and that allottees were required to comply with environmental, safety and statutory norms. Any unauthorised activity or violation of industrial regulations can invite action, including cancellation of allotments.
