Man beats wife to death, dies by suicide on railway tracks
Indore: A woman was found murdered in a village drain in Khandwa on Sunday evening and within hours her husband, who was suspected of killing her, was discovered dead on railway tracks. Police believe he died by suicide. Police said it was found that the accused suspected the woman of infidelity.The incident was reported from Damdama village in Harsud area of Khandwa district. The woman, identified as Phoolvatibai, wife of Ramprasad Kalam, was found dead in a drain. A deep injury on the back of her head indicated she was assaulted. After confirming it was a murder, investigators began questioning family members and soon zeroed in on her husband, who was missing from the spot and did not return home.
Teams were deployed to trace Ramprasad, but no breakthrough came till night. On Monday morning, police received information about a body on the railway tracks. When officers reached the spot, they found the corpse severely mutilated after being run over by a train. Villagers and relatives identified the deceased as Kalam.Harsud police station in-charge Rajkumar Rathore said police were already searching for the husband in connection with the murder when the information about the death on railway tracks was received. Both bodies were sent to Harsud civil hospital for postmortem examination. An FSL team is assisting in the probe.It was found during preliminary investigation that the couple had frequent disputes. Police said the woman allegedly left home with another man about 15 days ago and recently returned. Ramprasad, who was reportedly addicted to alcohol, is suspected to have confronted her over the issue. During a daytime altercation, he allegedly beat her to death and dumped the body in the village drain.
