3 firecracker factories sealed in Indore district
Indore: Three firecracker factories were sealed, surprise inspections were carried out across multiple subdivisions and safety compliance checks were intensified across hazardous units in Indore district on Friday after the deadly blast at a firecracker factory in Dewas triggered alarm within administration amid soaring temperatures.
Collector Shivam Verma said that officials have begun checking safety compliance at all licenced fireworks units, besides identifying other highly sensitive industrial establishments dealing with inflammable or hazardous materials.
During inspections carried out on Friday, three firecracker factories were sealed after officials found serious lapses in safety standards. Additional collector Roshan Rai said that a firecracker factory operating in Khajuria village under Hatod tehsil was inspected by tehsildar and later sealed over deficiencies in mandatory safety measures. The unit is operated by Vinod.
In Sanwer subdivision, SDM conducted surprise inspections at firecracker establishments in Dhaturia and Panchderiya areas. Officials reviewed safety arrangements, instructed operators to implement corrective measures immediately and directed them to strictly adhere to prescribed norms.
Action was also taken in Bicholi subdivision, where inspection teams found violations at two factories operating in Rajdhara village. Shana Fire Works, owned by Akram Mansoori, and Baba Fire Works, operated by Salim Mansoori, were sealed after safety shortcomings came to light during the inspection. The action was carried out in the presence of tehsildar Anil Patel, Shikha Soni, revenue officials and patwaris.
Officials said that the inspection drive would continue across the district in the coming days to ensure compliance and prevent any untoward incident.
