Telangana assembly elections 2018: 1 lakh cows, free laptops for students, says BJP manifesto
HYDERABAD: Joining the race of announcing sops , the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its manifesto promised to waive farm loan upto Rs 2 lakh, distribute one lakh cows during festivities, give free laptops to degree students and provide free power upto 100 units to slum dwellers, among other promises.
The party made nearly 200 promises pertaining to various sectors such as agriculture, education, irrigation, health, urban infrastructure, youth and employment.
Among the many sops were constitution of a linguistic board for the benefit of Tamilians, Kannadigas, Marathis, Gujratis and other communities, subsidies to pilgrims going to Kailash Mansarovar, Kashi, Puri and Chardham, officially celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 and enhancement of retirement age for government employees to 60 years. Some promises were same as promised by other parties like stipend for unemployed youth and increase in pensions.
Releasing the manifesto at BJP headquarters on Thursday, BJP state president K Laxman said the document was drafted after taking opinions from experts on 15 subjects like agriculture, urban development, electricity, irrigation and education. “ We even asked for suggestions on Facebook. About 4,500 suggestions were received from the people,” Laxman said.
BJP is in power in 18 states and successful schemes from these states will be implemented in Telangana if the party comes into power, said the state BJP chief. “For instance, due to successful schemes for farmers in Madhya Pradesh the state recorded 20% growth in agriculture, Gujarat is known for its industry friendly atmosphere and welfare schemes from Chattisgarh wil also be implemented,” said Laxman.
He alleged that TRS came into power in the newly created state by making big promises but majority of them were not implemented. “It is not just manifesto, it is a blueprint, a vision document for the state for the next 20 years,” he said.
