Residents urge to shift mortuary of upcoming TIMS hospital
Hyderabad: Residents of Vengal Rao Nagar Colony have opposed the mortuary facility at the upcoming Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS) Hospital in Sanathnagar and are asking authorities to shift it to another location within the hospital campus. They say the planned site, which is on the main road and close to residential areas, will affect thousands of families living nearby.
The residents clarified that they are not against the hospital or its medical services. Their demand is that the mortuary be moved to a more suitable location.
According to them, there is enough vacant land available within the hospital premises, especially near the Government Chest Hospital, where the facility could be set up instead.
Residents said they have met the hospital director, superintendent and other officials several times to share their concerns. They also approached MLA Naveen Yadav and requested his intervention.
In addition, petitions were submitted to the Health Minister, health department officials and other public representatives a month ago. However, residents say no action has been taken so far.
Many residents are worried that the regular movement of bodies and funeral vehicles near their homes could be disturbing, especially for children and elderly people. They have also raised concerns about possible environmental and public health issues if the mortuary is not managed properly.
