SPR traffic pressure triggers new road push in gurgaon

With traffic building up along southern peripheral road (SPR), gmda is planning service roads across sectors 70-70a and 70-75. the proposed stretches of around 3.5 km aim to ease congestion and improve internal road connectivity. Officials said the detailed project report is under preparation and tender will be floated after approval.

GMDA is preparing new service roads across sectors 70-70a and 70-75 to improve last-mile connectivity and reduce pressure on spr. the stretches will strengthen internal sector roads and help manage increasing traffic on the arterial corridor as redevelopment plans move ahead.

New corridor to feature service lanes and cycle tracks

The upcoming road between sectors 68 and 69 will include dual carriageways, service lanes, green belts, cycle tracks and footpaths. the already constructed 1.1 km stretch will also be repaired as part of the project to ensure smoother traffic flow.

Officials said spr is set for major redevelopment, making it necessary to strengthen parallel routes and internal sector roads. These measures are expected to help manage traffic diversions during construction and reduce congestion on the main stretch.

Missing link road between sectors 68 and 69 revived

GMDA has floated a tender to complete a long-pending 900-metre missing link between sectors 68 and 69. the stretch will connect sohna road with sectors 68, 69, 70, 70a and 75 and act as an alternative route to spr, which carries heavy daily traffic.

Rs 25.3 crore road project to improve sector connectivity

The missing link project is now pegged at rs 25.3 crore after delays due to land acquisition issues, which have now been resolved. Work started in 2019 but remained incomplete, with only 1.1 km finished by 2022. the remaining stretch is expected to be completed within a year.

SPR alternative corridor to span 5 km once complete

Officials said once the missing link is completed, the entire 5 km corridor will serve as an alternative to SPR for commuters heading towards sohna road. It will also improve connectivity between sectors 58 and 75 and help distribute traffic more evenly across the network.
