CCP aims at minimising disruptions during rains
Panaji: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) held a standing committee meeting where councillors and CCP officials reviewed ongoing infrastructure projects, public services, environmental preparedness and heritage conservation.
“With the monsoon season under way, significant attention was given to preparedness measures, including the ongoing maintenance of drains and water channels, public infrastructure, and efforts aimed at minimising disruptions during the rainy season,” said mayor Rohit Monserrate, who chaired the meeting.
The meeting’s agenda also covered plans for ward-wise improvements, the enhancement of public spaces in the state capital, heritage-sensitive interventions within the Fontainhas and Campal areas, and projects aimed at creating better recreational opportunities and facilities for children and youth.
Monserrate had met with residents residing in and around St Sebastian Chapel, Fontainhas, to understand their concerns particularly the disturbance created by tourists that affects daily life in the historic neighbourhood.
He also discussed concerns raised by councillors, particularly by former mayor Uday Madkaikar and ward 9 councillor Kabir Pinto Makhija.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review ongoing ward level infrastructure workers, emerging priorities, and proposals for the city’s long-term growth, sustainability, and overall liveability.
Monserrate said that the decisions taken at the meeting aimed to build a “safer, more resilient, and inclusive” capital while addressing the immediate concerns identified in every ward.
