'Bakrid invite, repeated stomach stabs, encounter death': How Ghaziabad teen murder unfolded; mother demands accused’s 'dead' photo
GHAZIABAD: A 17-year-old Class 11 student in Uttar Pradesh’s Khoda Colony was killed after being stabbed during a confrontation on Thursday, while the main accused in the case, Asad, later died in a police encounter on Sunday, officials said.
Surya Pratap Chauhan, a resident of Navneet Vihar Colony in Khoda, succumbed to injuries on Friday while undergoing treatment in Noida.
Deputy commissioner of Police (City) Dhawal Jaiswal said Asad was injured during an exchange of fire with a police team early Sunday morning in the Khoda area.
Police said officers had acted on specific inputs about his location. When the team attempted to intercept him, Asad allegedly opened fire on the police personnel.
Police said the team returned fire in self-defence, during which Asad sustained bullet injuries.
He was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Authorities said a reward of Rs 50,000 had earlier been announced for information leading to his arrest, as he was absconding after the stabbing.
After Asad’s death in the encounter, Surya’s family demanded action against all those involved.
The victim’s mother said she had only seen one person being shown in connection with the encounter and wanted confirmation of Asad’s identity.
"I have only seen the encounter of one person... But I want to see the picture of Asad. I will be satisfied after I see the picture. The encounter of others should also happen like this.Seven people did this to my son. Bulldozers should run over everyone's houses," she told ANI.
She also demanded action against the remaining accused, saying multiple people were involved in her son’s killing.
How the stabbing took place
The incident occurred on May 28 near Sharma Dairy in Khoda Colony, when Surya was attacked following a confrontation.
According to a complaint filed by his elder brother Yash,“My brother and his friends Ayush and Vicky were together at the time. Meanwhile, they encountered Asad in the lane. He began quarrelling with my brother and hurled abuses. Asad stabbed my brother four times in the abdomen with intent to kill. After getting information, we immediately reached and took him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries on Friday,” Yash said.
What led to confrontation
Surya’s friend Vicky told police that the incident followed an earlier interaction linked to Bakrid.
He said Surya, along with Vicky and Ayush, had gone to the accused’s locality after being invited earlier in the day by a neighbourhood youth.
According to Vicky, a conversation escalated into a confrontation.
He said Asad allegedly told Surya, “Tumne kabhi bakra halal hote dekha hai?” to which Surya replied “Nahi”.
Vicky added that Asad then said, “Aao dikhate hain (Have you ever seen a goat being killed? Come, we will show you).”
He further said that when Surya tried to leave, he was allegedly abused and attacked, leading to the stabbing.
'Dispute over riding motorcycle?'
According to news agency PTI, police said preliminary findings suggested that the accused and the victim were known to each other and that a dispute over riding a motorcycle escalated into an argument that turned violent.
Based on the complaint lodged by the family, police registered a case against five persons. Three accused were arrested soon after the incident on Saturday, while Asad remained absconding until late Saturday.
Surya was first taken to a local hospital after the attack and later referred to a private hospital in Noida, where he died on Friday.
