Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

Construction on the DND–Jaitpur segment of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is reaching its last phase, with officials stating that this crucial stretch is expected to be ready by June next year, marking major progress on the nationwide corridor.

2/10

Partial sections already operational

In a formal response to a query from South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the road transport minister informed Lok Sabha that substantial sections of the DND–Faridabad–Sohna corridor are already active and catering to routine traffic.

3/10

Traffic already flowing on completed parts

Two of the three development zones are already open to public use, enabling smoother travel from Delhi towards Haryana. Early users are experiencing noticeable improvements in traffic flow.

4/10

Investment scale underscored

The project marks one of India’s most significant expressway investments, with Rs 71,718 crore spent so far. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to establishing faster national road networks.

5/10

Final stretch advanced but pending

The opening 9-km portion from the DND junction to Jaitpur has attained over 94% physical progress. Officials said that while most work is complete, some remaining formalities are preventing final closure of this segment.

6/10

Focus on uninterrupted progress

Officials said that monitoring, coordination and ground supervision have been strengthened to avoid new setbacks. Departments involved are working to streamline all technical and construction-related processes.

7/10

Three-part development structure

The 59-km DND–Faridabad–Sohna link has been divided into three construction packages. As per the ministry, the latter two segments are finished and opened, offering partial connectivity benefits to travellers.

8/10

Corridor significance highlighted

Authorities noted that once operational end-to-end, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway will greatly shorten travel time between the two metros and enhance freight efficiency, benefiting trade and long-distance mobility.

9/10

Target date reaffirmed

Despite earlier delays, the ministry has confirmed that the remaining stretch will be completed by June 2026. Parliament was told that on-ground teams are speeding up tasks to meet the revised deadline.

10/10

Administrative approvals delayed

Progress slowed mainly due to delayed technical approval for the Agra Canal crossing. The Uttar Pradesh irrigation department required additional time to approve structural drawings, causing unavoidable disruption in the timeline.
