ASI Stabbed, Constable Injured While Foiling Burglary Bid in West Delhi; Two Held
New Delhi: An assistant sub-inspector was stabbed and another constable injured while attempting to nab two burglars in west Delhi’s Shiv Nagar area early Sunday morning.
Police said the incident took place around 5am when a team from the anti-snatching and burglary cell of the outer district was trailing two suspects wanted in a burglary case registered earlier this month.
The police team, comprising ASI Vinod, head constable Ravi, constable Devender and constable Abhishek—reached a house in Gali No. 5, Shiv Nagar. The suspects, who had arrived on a stolen motorcycle, were allegedly in the process of committing a burglary when they were intercepted.
“As the officers moved in to overpower them, the accused attacked ASI Vinod and constable Abhishek with a knife. ASI Vinod sustained a stab injury above his right eyebrow during the scuffle, while constable Abhishek was also injured,” a senior police officer said.
Despite the attack, the police team managed to subdue and detain both suspects at the spot. The motorcycle used as well as tools believed to have been used for burglary were seized.
The accused have been identified as Babloo Singh and Dharam Singh. Both are residents of Nangloi.
