Erode: Two young men died and two others suffered grievous injuries after two motorcycles collided head-on near KMS Garden on the Amman Koil Division to Sikkarasampalayam village road, on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sathiyamoorthi, 24, and Sakthivel, 21, both from Sathyamangalam. Both were riding the two bikes involved in the collission.
“The accident took place as both riders did not notice each other when navigating a cross road, resulting in the head-on collission,” said Sathyamangalam sub-inspector M Vairakumar.
The two pillion riders, Divakar, 17, and Vignesh, 23, both from Sathyamangalam, were critically injured. They were rushed to Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police recovered the bodies of the deceased and sent them to the Sathyamangalam Government Hospital for postmortem.
A case has been registered.
