Minister Tamilselvan directs guideline values for all land by June

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister T Logesh Tamilselvan has directed officials to ensure that every land survey number in the State is assigned a market guideline value by the end of June. He also emphasized faster and citizen-friendly registration services.

The Minister issued these instructions during the first performance review meeting of senior Registration Department officials held at the department’s 160-year-old District Registrar’s Office on Rajaji Salai in Chennai on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Commercial Taxes, Registration and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Secretary J Kumaragurubaran and Inspector General of Registration G K Arun Sundar Dayalan, and other officials.

The Minister instructed officials to treat members of the public courteously, ensure that visitors are seated comfortably in registration offices, and provide prompt clarification on registration-related procedures. He also directed officials to return registered documents to applicants on the same day without unnecessary delays and avoid actions that could lead to public complaints.

Logesh Tamilselvan stressed that documents submitted for scrutiny, including those related to building approvals, should be examined and returned without delay. District Registrars were asked to review pending files and resolve them expeditiously. Officials were also directed not to keep documents pending for avoidable reasons and to streamline registration processes.

“A lot of areas dont have guideline values including suburban areas of the city. The registration process gets delayed due to this. It also becomes hard to get loans as registration process is delayed. So this is a good move by the govt,” said S Ramprabhu, chairman of the DTCP committee at the Builders Association of India,

S Sridharan, Executive Committee Member CREDAI National, said that street wise composite value should be fixed across the state wherever applicable. “Other than Chennai, there is a gap in fixing the value. We have already submitted a representation on this issue to the govt,” he said
