Employee held for embezzling 31K at Chennai hotel
Chennai: An employee of a private hotel was arrested on Saturday for misappropriating funds worth 31,500 at his place of work in Perambur.Police who verified CCTV footage at the hotel, said the accused, Deepak Kumar, 19, from Bihar, had been misappropriating the money in small amounts over a period of time. The incident came to light through the hotel supervisor Loganathan, 37, who noticed discrepancies in cash receipts from March to April while verifying income and expenditure accounts. When he questioned Deepak, who had been staying at the hotel and working as a cashier, the latter gave inconsistent responses.On his complaint, the police investigated the case and arrested the accused.
