Man arrested after wife dies by suicide

On May 13, Kalka police station received information about a woman dying by suicide at her residence in Kalka. Brother of the deceased lodged a complaint alleging that her in-laws had been harassing her mentally and physically for dowry from the beginning. The family said the harassment intensified over time, ultimately pushing the woman to take the extreme step nearly five years after her marriage.
A case was registered at Kalka police station and statements of the deceased woman’s parents and other family members were recorded. Husband of the deceased was arrested on May 26.
