'Amritpal not a Bandi Singh, won't let him mislead youth'

TARN TARAN: As election atmosphere intensifies, the SAD has sharpened its attack on Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, who is contesting as an independent candidate from the Khadoor Sahib parliamentary constituency.

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badalk, addressing a rally for party candidate Virsa Singh Valtoha in Naurangabad village, said Amritpal could neither be dubbed as a 'Bandi Singh' nor will the party allow him to mislead the youth. "Bhai Amritpal can't be classified as a Bandi Singh and we (SAD) will not allow him to mislead the youth of Punjab and push the state back into darkness." "The real Bandi Singhs are those who have spent 26-29 years in jail because of certain acts after being swayed by emotions. These persons have never asked to be released from prison," he added.

Sukhbir said the Waris Punjab De chief landed in Punjab two years ago as a clean-shaven Sikh. "Central agencies, which were privy to his movements, did not take any action against him.  When the law finally caught up with him, Amritpal adopted a disguise to escape," he said.
