Cow falls on hut roof, elderly woman killed in Ratibad slum
Bhopal: A 64-year-old woman died allegedly after a cow fell onto the tin roof of her hut in Ratibad area, causing the structure to collapse on her while she was sleeping inside on Thursday night.
The incident took place on Thursday night around 8 pm on Thursday in Suraj Nagar slum near the Judicial Academy, where several hutments are built along a hillside slope. According to police, two cows were fighting on the upper side of the slope when one of them reportedly lost balance and fell directly onto the roof of the hut.
The impact caused the tin shed to cave in, trapping Geetabai beneath the collapsed structure and the animal. Family members rushed to rescue her and pulled her out from under the debris before taking her to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police said Geetabai lived in the hut with her son and daughter-in-law. Her husband had died several years ago. Her son works at a hotel in the city.
A case has been registered and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the incident further.
