3 men with forged MBBS degrees worked at govt clinic for nearly a year, arrested
Bhopal/Jabalpur: Fake doctors were treating patients at a govt-run Sanjeevani clinic in Damoh for nearly a year before they were caught, with police arresting two accused and detaining another in connection with the use of forged MBBS degrees and fake Medical Council registration documents.
Police said the accused, identified as Kumar Sachin Yadav of Gwalior and Rajpal Gaur of Sehore, allegedly secured appointments at the Sanjeevani Clinic in Subhash Colony under the National Health Mission (NHM) using forged educational and registration documents. During this period, they continued working as doctors and treating patients at the facility.
The matter came to light after the CMHO office submitted a verification report to Kotwali police on May 16, flagging irregularities in the documents submitted by the accused. Following verification, police registered separate cases under sections related to cheating, forgery and fraud and arrested both men.
During interrogation, the name of a third accused, Ajay Maurya, surfaced. Police said he was allegedly working at a Sanjeevani facility in Jabalpur using fake credentials and has since been taken into custody.
Investigators suspect the case could be linked to a wider network involved in arranging fake MBBS degrees, forged medical registration certificates and appointments in govt healthcare facilities in exchange for money. Police officials said several other names have emerged during questioning, and teams are probing possible links extending to Bhopal and other parts of the state.
Officials said the accused not only obtained jobs using forged documents but also continued treating patients at govt-linked healthcare facilities for months before the alleged fraud came to light. Further investigation is underway.
