Retired Air India manager loses Rs 2cr in trading scam
Bengaluru: A retired senior manager of Indian Airlines was duped of Rs 2.1 crore in an online stock market investment scam after she came across an advertisement on Facebook that promised huge returns.
Suma (name changed), a resident of Benson Town, said she saw the advertisement in June 2025 and gave a missed call to the mobile number mentioned there.
Soon after, she began receiving calls from several international numbers. The callers introduced themselves as investment advisers and convinced her to download an app named “fxroad.com,” claiming it was a professional trading platform that would generate high returns.
The fraudsters asked her to invest money through the app and regularly communicated with her via Telegram using an ID linked to “fxroad.com.” Suma told police she was asked to transfer funds to several bank accounts given by the fraudsters.
Hoping to earn profits, she transferred over 2.1 crore in multiple transactions from her two accounts between June 2025 and May 2026. However, when she later tried to withdraw the supposed returns or contact the investment handlers, Smrealised she had been cheated.
