BENGALURU: The IMD issued yellow alert on Tuesday for Bengaluru and adjoining districts, warning of heavy rain and thundershowers over the next three hours, officials said.
According to the forecast, moderate rain with isolated intense spells is likely in several parts, accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph.
The districts likely to be affected include Dharwad, Gadag, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kolar and Ramanagara.
Officials said the weather conditions may cause temporary disruption to electricity supply in some areas, minor traffic congestion, damage to weak or temporary structures, and uprooting of weak tree branches. Crops kept in open fields may also be affected.
Authorities have advised people to remain indoors where possible, keep doors and windows closed, and avoid unnecessary travel. Residents have been urged not to take shelter under trees, to unplug electrical appliances, and to stay away from water bodies during the adverse weather conditions.
Motorists have been advised to drive carefully due to possible slippery roads and reduced visibility, while farmers have been asked not to leave harvested crops in open areas.
