CM to review LPG price hike today

Bengaluru: Chief minister DK Shivakumar Sunday said he has sought a detailed report on the recent hike in LPG, industrial gas and diesel prices and would respond to the increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices on Monday after reviewing the report.

Speaking before commencing his gratitude tour to his home constituency, Shivakumar said he was more concerned about the hike in industrial gas and diesel prices and would comment on the issue in detail after examining the report.





DCM slams Centre

Meanwhile, deputy chief minister G Parameshwara criticised the Centre for increasing LPG cylinder prices again, alleging the move has imposed an additional burden on common people. He alleged the Centre was attempting to justify the hike by citing the prevailing war situation.

Rural development and panchayat raj (RDPR) minister Eshwar Khandre also slammed the Centre over the Rs 29 increase in the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder. Questioning whether this was the "achhe din" promised by the BJP-led govt, Khandre said it was the second hike in domestic LPG prices within three months, raising the cumulative burden on consumers by nearly Rs 90.

He alleged that repeated price increases had severely impacted poor and middle-class families and termed them a result of the Centre's "misgovernance".
