Bamu plans open day & education expo in bid to fill vacant seats
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) has planned a series of initiatives, including an open day for students and parents and an education expo, to tackle the issue of vacant seats across several courses in the upcoming academic year.
The online admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate courses began on Tuesday and will continue till June 28. “In total, 55 departments, 45 from the main campus and 10 from the Dharashiv sub-campus, will participate by setting up stalls at the auditorium near the department of dramatics. These stalls will provide detailed insights into the courses during the open day and mega expo,” Pravin Yannawar, admission section in-charge of Bamu, said.
Along with information about various programmes, students and parents will also be guided on career prospects and employment opportunities linked to different courses. To further assist applicants, the university has prepared a comprehensive booklet covering course details, eligibility criteria, fee structures and syllabi.
The move comes in the wake of low enrolment figures last academic year, when only 1,226 seats were filled after two admission rounds, leaving nearly half of the seats vacant ahead of the spot round.
University authorities said a dedicated committee has been formed to monitor the admission process for the 2026-27 academic session and ensure maximum utilisation of available seats.
