Husband opens fire on wife; escapes
Prayagraj: A 30-year-old man allegedly opened fire at his wife, leaving her injured in Mahamaya Colony, Ward No. 8, under the limits of Handia police station on Wednesday.
Upon being alerted, a team of Handia police rushed to the spot and took the injured woman to a hospital, where her condition was said to be stable.
According to police, the victim, Noorjahan, 27, had been married to the accused, Sahil alias Raja, for the past four years.
However, the couple had been at loggerheads, as the husband allegedly doubted his wife’s character.
Police said the accused had arrived from Mumbai on Wednesday and went straight to Noorjahan’s sister’s house in Mahamaya Colony, Handia, where she had come to visit her sister.
The two came face-to-face, and in a fit of rage, the man allegedly thrashed his wife, opened fire at her, and escaped.
Police said an FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway.
