Criminal injured in encounter, held in Kaushambi

Prayagraj: A criminal was injured and arrested along with his aide by a team of Kada Dham police in Kaushambi district during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Cops said that Kada Dham police received a tip-off about an inter-district gang involved in snatching and robbing. The gang was operating on border areas of Kaushambi and Fatehpur.

As the police team was conducting search and checking near Naudia nahar pulia road, the criminals opened fire on the police party. Cops responded, resulting in the injury of one of the criminals. The duo criminals had looted cash and valuables from a man and his mother near pulia road on April 27.

The police recovered one country-made pistol of 0.315 along with two used and one live cartridge, a bike, a mobile and other valuables near the spot. The injured criminal, identified as Shyamjeet, a resident of Haibatpur village (Fatehpur), was admitted to the CHC Ismailpur Kada Dham, for treatment.

Police also arrested accomplice, Amit Saroj of Sorai Buzurg, after a brief chase.
