Surgery of sebaceous cyst performed at Thaltej CHC

Ahmedabad: Doctors at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-run Thaltej Community Health Centre (CHC) successfully performed a sebaceous cyst surgery on a 45-year-old livestock farmer from Thaltej village on Monday.

The patient, Samat Bharwad, had been suffering from a growing lump on the back of his right shoulder for some time. The swelling had started affecting his routine activities, prompting him to seek medical treatment at the CHC.

During examination, the team of doctors diagnosed the lump as a sebaceous cyst — a fatty swelling that can develop due to infection, injury or other underlying causes. A surgery was carried out on the cyst and the procedure lasted nearly an hour. Officials said that the successful procedure reflected the growing healthcare capabilities at civic-run community health centres.
