Maximum temperature at 41.9°C in Ahmedabad, no respite in sight
Ahmedabad: The city on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 41.9 degrees celsius, which was 1 degree higher than normal. With the southwest monsoon covering parts of Maharashtra, it is expected that rains may reach south Gujarat by June 15.
The forecast for the state indicated that there will be no major change in maximum temperatures for the next seven days.
It is notable that the city recorded 40 degrees-plus temperatures on 55 of the past 58 days. Now, the citizens are also battling a rise in relative humidity — 61% at 8.30am and 36% at 5.30pm.
The forecast indicated a chance of light to moderate rains by the end of the week in some parts of South Gujarat.
At 41.9 degrees, Ahmedabad was the hottest in the state along with Rajkot, followed by Surendranagar (41.5 degrees), Gandhinagar (41 degrees), and Vallabh Vidyanagar (40.3 degrees).
