Gujarat University’s online courses see surge in enrolment for 2026–27
Ahmedabad: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) at Gujarat University (GU) has recorded a notable rise in student enrolment for its undergraduate and postgraduate online programmes for the academic year 2026–27. Structured in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), these programmes are making higher education more flexible, accessible, and learner-focused, said experts.
The courses have attracted a diverse set of learners, including working professionals, aspirants preparing for competitive examinations, and those looking to pursue dual degrees. The convenience of studying from home, along with an industry-oriented curriculum, has driven the increasing demand.
According to official admission figures, during the Aug 2025 session, 450 students enrolled for various programmes. Of these, 252 completed the final submission stage, 180 received university approval, and 154 students eventually confirmed their admissions.
The response rose sharply in the Feb 2026 session. A total of 3,101 students registered, including 2,993 Indian candidates and 108 international applicants. Among them, 447 candidates completed final submissions, 440 were approved, and 343 students ultimately secured admissions, including 341 Indian and 2 international students.
Course-wise figures reflect growing interest across streams. In Aug 2025, admissions included 37 students in BA (English), 23 in BCom, 23 in BCA, 21 in MA (English), 33 in MCom, and 17 in MSc (Mathematics). In Feb 2026, these numbers increased to 68, 73, 59, 56, 61, and 26 respectively, taking the total confirmed admissions to 343.
The involvement of international applicants underlines the expanding global footprint of Gujarat University’s online education initiatives. University officials stated that efforts will continue to enhance technology-driven, industry-relevant programmes aligned with global academic benchmarks, further strengthening its academic presence worldwide.
