Mercedes-Benz recalls CLE, C 63 in India: Check if your car is affected
German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has issued a voluntary recall in India covering select units of the CLE, CLE 53 AMG Coupe and C 63 S E Performance models. The recall has been announced to fix a possible issue related to the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), specifically the Emergency Stop Assist function.
A total of 149 vehicles sold in India are affected by the campaign. These include cars manufactured between September 2, 2024, and March 18, 2025. According to the company, the Emergency Stop Assist feature may not work as intended in certain situations due to a potential software-related problem.
The Emergency Stop Assist system is designed to intervene if the driver becomes unresponsive. It typically activates when the vehicle detects no steering input for a prolonged period or when the driver’s hands are not detected on the steering wheel. In such cases, the system is meant to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop and initiate an automatic emergency call. However, Mercedes-Benz has identified that this function may not activate properly in some affected vehicles.
The recall covers CLE models produced between September 2, 2024 and March 18, 2025. The CLE AMG versions manufactured between December 12, 2024 and March 18, 2025 are also included. In addition, AMG C-Class models built between October 23, 2024 and November 23, 2024 are part of the recall.
Mercedes-Benz authorised service centres will contact owners of the affected vehicles. The cars will be inspected and the required software correction will be carried out free of cost. Owners have also been advised to contact their nearest authorised service centre and avoid relying fully on the Emergency Stop Assist feature until the update is completed.
