Mahindra XEV 9s: Variant-wise features with price explained
Mahindra and Mahindra has just launched the new Mahindra XEV 9s electric SUV in the Indian market. The new EV SUV serves as the electric alternative to the XUV700 ICE and is based on the brand’s INGLO born-electric skateboard architecture, which also underpins the XEV 9e and the BE 6. Test-drive units of the XEV 9S will be available at Mahindra dealerships from December 5. Bookings are scheduled to open on January 14, with customer deliveries commencing from January 23. In this article, let’s take a look at variant-wise features of the new XEV 9s with pricing.
The new Mahindra XEV 9S will be offered with three battery options across four trims - Pack One Above, Pack Two Above, Pack Three and Pack Three Above. Mahindra has also added a third battery choice to the XEV 9S lineup in the form of a 70kWh pack paired with a 245hp rear-mounted motor. This setup delivers an ARAI-certified range of up to 600km, but it’s exclusive to the mid-range Pack Two Above variant. The base Pack One Above continues with the 59kWh unit, while the larger 79kWh battery is offered across the entire range.

The Pack One Above is the entry level variant of the XEV 9s and gets features such as six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ESP, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, an electric parking brake, Bi-LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs and tail-lamps, an illuminated logo, a rear spoiler, turn indicators integrated into the power-adjustable ORVMs, 18-inch steel wheels with 235/60 R18 tyres, automatic headlights and wipers, a rear defogger with wash and wipe, a rear camera with parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, dual 12.3-inch infotainment screens for the centre and passenger side, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker audio system, four USB-C ports (two in front and two at the back), connected-car features, cruise control, multiple drive modes (Default, Range, Everyday, Race and Snow), four levels of regenerative braking (L0 to L3) with single-pedal capability, a 150-litre frunk, a manually adjustable driver’s seat (6-way) and passenger seat (4-way), 60:40 split second-row seats with slide and recline, a reclining third row, front and rear centre armrests, single-zone climate control and push-button start.

Next comes in Pack Two Above and gets features such as ADAS suite, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, power-folding ORVMs, 18-inch alloy wheels, soft-touch dashboard materials, leatherette upholstery, adaptive cruise control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a front wireless charger, rear-seat table/phone-mount provisions, a 6-way powered driver’s seat with manual lumbar and memory, ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control.
XEV 9S Pack Three Rs 27.35 lakh (79kWh)
The Pack three is exclusively offered only with higher 79 kWh battery pack and features a knee airbag (bringing the total to seven), extra ADAS functions such as rear cross-traffic alert and autonomous emergency steering, an automatic windshield defogger, cornering lamps, front fog lights, sequential turn indicators, ambient lighting, powered flush-mounted front door handles, a rear wireless phone charger, a 6-way powered front passenger seat with Boss mode, ventilated second-row seats, keyless entry and go, a rear windscreen sunshade and an air purifier.
XEV 9S Pack Three AboveRs 29.45 lakh (79kWh)
Next comes in top-spec Pack Three Above trim and gets features such as an augmented reality head-up display, automatic parking assist, driver and front passenger drowsiness monitoring and in-car video calling.
