Alyson Hannigan was pregnant while filming for Season 4 of the show but the show makers were not interested in Lily being shown as pregnant and so they tried to hide her pregnancy. The tricks included making her wear baggy tops and giant handbags. In ‘The Possimpible’ episode, Alyson showed her baby bump in the context of a subplot where Lily wins a hot-dog eating contest and has a comically distended stomach. When Alyson told the show makers about her pregnancy, even Cobie Smulders discovered that she was pregnant. Neither of the characters they play were pregnant on the show ironically.
