Yashh Dasgupta, aka Aranya Singha Roy, reveals his fitness regime

Yashh Dasgupta never misses his gym routine, but he has extravagant cheat days. The TV hottie tells CT how he keeps fit:
Tell us about your training schedule.
I love weight training, which is why you'll mostly find me sweating it out in the gym than doing yoga. My training schedule changes according to my personal goals. Sometimes I love to see myself lean, but when I get bored with that and want to bulk up, I start working on my muscles. If I want to lose weight, I stress on all sorts of cardio exercises that can stretch up to one and half hours. If there's one thing I hate about the gym, it's the treadmill. I love to run on empty roads early in the morning or at night. Skipping is also a favourite exercise of mine.

What specific exercises do you do to stay fit
Hanging leg raises and cable crunches are a must for my abs, though both are quite tough. The four major exercises for me are dead lift, bench press, squats and shoulder press. Another wrong notion is that one can actually `build' six or eight packs. Each one of us is born with the same number of muscles. Only , the fat in our body hides them. So if you want to make the cuts visible, you have to work towards it.

What time do you hit the gym? How many hours do you train?
My gym timings depend on my shooting schedule. But five to six days a week, I spend around two and a half hours in the gym in the morning or late evening. There is no compromise on that. I have a gym setup at home too, so if I come back at 2 am, I exercise for at least an hour before I hit the bed.

Tell us about your food habits.
I start my day with a mug of green tea. Then I have a king's breakfast, which is two pieces of brown bread, boiled chicken breast with veggies (I avoid leg piece as it has too much of fat), two egg whites, boiled potatoes, baked beans and one fruit. Before workouts, I have a glass of a creatine monohydrate drink and afterwards it's a glass of protein shake. Lunch is simple -a sandwich, a bowl of salad, one fruit and one big bowl of either boiled chicken or fish tossed in olive oil.In the evenings, I take a glass of protein shake. For dinner I have to have one bowl of brown rice with anything non-veg. I will die if I don't have rice once in a day .That apart, I drink a lot of water to keep myself hydrated.

Do you also have cheat days?
Oh yes! It is mandatory to have cheat days as your body will stop reacting to exercise and diet otherwise. On cheat days, I only eat biryani, mutton, ice cream, cold drinks, cake, pizza with extra cheese, sweets, and fried stuff to keep myself happy . And if I eat a little more on regular days, I sweat it out by running more rounds in the park.

Do you have any fitness idols?
Salman Khan and Sylvester Stallone! What enviable bodies they both have. Both of them have inspired me for the past 12 years to become a fitness freak.
