Donald Trump has secured four of Nebraska’s five Electoral College votes in the 2024 presidential election, as projected by NBC News. The conservative state, which previously backed Trump in both 2016 and 2020, continues its Republican trend.
However, Vice President Kamala Harris managed to win one electoral vote, similar to Democratic performances in 2016 and 2020.
Nebraska is unique, along with Maine, in not using a winner-take-all system. Instead, electoral votes are split: two votes go to the statewide winner, and one vote is allocated to the winner of each of its three congressional districts.
This year, Trump won the statewide vote and two of the congressional districts, while Harris claimed victory in the 2nd District.
Recent polling showed a clear lead for Trump.
An average of two polls, including The Economist/YouGov and NY Times/Siena College, placed Trump at 55 per cent support compared to Harris’s 40 per cent.
The state’s overall Republican-leaning nature was reaffirmed in these latest polls, which held steady compared to earlier surveys.
