NEW DELHI: The Los Angeles Dodgers made a significant move on Monday, acquiring third baseman Andre Lipcius from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations. This trade adds depth to the Dodgers' roster and provides them with another option at the hot corner.

In a corresponding transaction, the Dodgers placed left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw on the 60-day injured list. Kershaw, a stalwart of the Dodgers' rotation for over a decade, underwent left shoulder surgery on November 3. As he enters his 16th season in the majors, Kershaw, who will turn 36 on March 19, aims to make a comeback in the latter part of the season, targeting a return to the mound in July or August.

Throughout his illustrious career with the Dodgers, Kershaw has amassed an impressive resume, boasting a record of 210 wins and 92 losses with a stellar 2.48 ERA. His dominance on the mound has earned him numerous accolades, including 10 All-Star selections and three National League Cy Young Awards. In 2014, Kershaw achieved the remarkable feat of winning both the Cy Young Award and the NL MVP award, solidifying his place among the game's elite pitchers.

On the other side of the trade, the Dodgers welcome Andre Lipcius, a 25-year-old infielder drafted by the Tigers in the third round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Tennessee. In his rookie campaign in 2023, Lipcius showcased promise at the plate, recording 10 hits in 38 plate appearances while batting .286. His versatility and potential make him an intriguing addition to the Dodgers' organization as they seek to bolster their roster for the upcoming season.
