'Every candidate with an Indian last name....': What happened at local election in Frisco, Texas
Several social media users cheered the local election results of Frisco, a city in Texas, as no Indian-origin candidates saw any success. The Frisco city council elections were on May 2 for three positions, including the mayor position. While there was no Indian-origin candidate for the mayor position, there were three Indian-Americans for City Council Place 5 and 6. "Every candidate with an Indian last name running for an election in Frisco is getting destroyed. None are in runoff territory," a viral post on X read.
Frisco has been dominating headlines for its growing Indian-origin population and the relentless attack on them. Council meetings discussed Indians, and protested what they called a changing demography and Indian-Americans resisted the narrative.
Indian-origin Sreekanth Reddy (2,402) and Vijay Karthik (5954) were in the race for City Council Place 5 but they were trumped by Laura Rummel who got 16,348 votes.
Sai Krishnarajanagar, another Indian-origin man, was in the fray for the City Council Place 6, which was won by Brittany Colberg.
As the social media post cheering for the poor performance of the Indian-Americans went viral, one explained that this happened as a huge number of Indians are non-voters as they are on visas. "Give it 10 years once all the Indian anchor babies hit 18 and can vote every Indian will win!" another wrote.
"A lot of people are celebrating Indians getting crushed in the Frisco election. What those people are missing is the white candidates who won pander to the Indians and ignore H1B abuse. Frisco is not gonna get any better. One of them even wore a Muslim hijab…" T-Mobile whistleblower Marc Palasciano, who has been speaking at Frisco City Council meetings, said.
Frisco is a city in Texas located in Collin and Denton counties. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. According to claims, 33% of the Frisco population is Indian. The Frisco council has one Indian-origin member, Burt Thakur, from Place 2.
Indians can't vote in any election in the US, even if they have Green Cards. They can only vote when they become US citizens. They can't vote when they are on any visa or even when they are permanent residents with Green Cards.
