NEW DELHI: The Chicago White Sox and pitcher Dylan Cease agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal, avoiding arbitration. Cease, who has been a subject of trade rumors, faced challenges in the 2022 season following his impressive second-place finish in the 2021 AL Cy Young Award vote. In 33 starts last season, the 28-year-old right-hander recorded a 7-9 record with a 4.58 ERA.

The White Sox also secured deals with several other players, finalizing agreements with slugger Andrew Vaughn ($3.25 million), right-hander Michael Kopech ($3 million), infielder Nicky Lopez ($4.3 million), and pitchers Michael Soroka ($3 million), Touki Toussaint ($1.3 million), and Garrett Crochet ($800,000). This ensures that the White Sox have successfully reached deals with all seven of their arbitration-eligible players.

Andrew Vaughn, who had a productive season, agreed to a $3.25 million deal. Vaughn, known for his power, delivered 21 home runs and 80 RBIs while maintaining a .258 batting average in the 2022 season.

Michael Kopech, a right-hander, secured a $3 million deal. Despite a rise in his ERA from 3.54 in 2022 to 5.43 last year, Kopech made 27 starts and three relief appearances, finishing with a 5-12 record.

The White Sox have effectively addressed their arbitration-eligible players, ensuring stability in their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
