“How fake these people are”: Brandon Tatum blasts Megyn Kelly over caution on Trump’s Venezuela comments and US action
Brandon Tatum did not hold back. On his January 6 podcast, the conservative podcaster sharply criticized Megyn Kelly after she refused to fully support President Donald Trump’s comments on Venezuela. Tatum said Kelly’s decision to stay neutral showed weak leadership. He made it clear that he no longer supports her work and has unfollowed her.
The clash started after Kelly discussed Trump’s recent remarks about possible U.S. action in Venezuela. On her show, Kelly said she wanted to stay in what she called “yellow light territory.” She said she needed more facts before cheering or condemning any move. She also warned against celebrating foreign action too early, saying past examples had ended badly. Brandon Tatum strongly disagreed. He said staying in the middle during serious moments is wrong. He argued that leaders must take clear positions, even when outcomes are uncertain.
Brandon Tatum said Megyn Kelly’s stance showed fear of public backlash. Speaking directly to his audience, he said, “I’m going to tell you how fake these people are. They want to play in the middle because ‘I don’t want to be wrong.’ You do what you need to do in good faith and do the best you can.”
Tatum then added a line that sparked strong reactions online. He said, “That’s why, and I’m not saying women, but woman like this can’t lead.” He explained that leaders cannot wait for perfect answers before acting.
Megyn Kelly had earlier explained why she refused to jump on what she called the “rah-rah train.” On her podcast, she said past foreign policy moves that were celebrated early later caused regret. She also stressed concern for families. After President Donald Trump said on January 3 that he would not rule out “boots on the ground” in Venezuela, Kelly responded, “Whose boots? Because I have a 16-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old girl, and a lot of my listeners have children too, who are actually the ones who might have to fill the boots.”
Tatum rejected that fear. He said the situation would not lead to a military draft. He told listeners, “People don’t sign up for the military to sit on a base every day. You sign up to fight for the country. You don’t get to pick which war you go to.”
To explain his point, Tatum used a simple example. He said if a car breaks down, it does not mean people should stop driving forever. It means they need a better car. He also said he trusts Trump’s record, stating that the president acts in good faith and does not push regime change lightly.
Still, Brandon Tatum added that his support is not blind. He said he would back Donald Trump when he believes the president is right and speak out when he believes he is wrong.
