Asmongold’s viral rant about America being “White people’s land” turns into major race debate online
Twitch and Kick streamer Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt has gone viral after a clip from his October 29, 2025 livestream showed him saying that America is “White people’s land” and that “a war was fought over it.” The clip, later shared on r/LivestreamFail on October 30, quickly spread across social media and started a major debate.
Asmongold made the comment while reacting to a video of Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker talking about seeing more White people in Japan. Many online users called Asmongold’s take “racist,” while others said he was just stating history.
During the Trash Taste podcast, HasanAbi said he had noticed more White people in Japan and added, “I don’t like it.”
Asmongold, watching this clip on his stream, strongly disagreed. He said,
“If you are a foreigner in Japan because you’re White, then what does that make every other person that is not White in America? That’s not the kind of identity politics you really want to play. It’s ridiculous!”
He explained that many immigrants come to America and “fit in” without causing problems, mentioning creators like Abroad in Japan and PewDiePie as examples.
As he spoke, one viewer wrote in chat, “America is not White people’s land.”
Asmongold replied,
“Well, it is. It absolutely is White people’s land. We fought a war over it! Duh! It got conquered. It’s been our land for hundreds of years! That’s what happens. Wars draw the lines.”
He added that every country in the world was shaped by wars and that this is how “civilization” works.
After the clip hit Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), many fans called Asmongold’s comments “racist” and “tone-deaf.”
Some said he ignored the fact that Native Americans lived in the land long before European settlers. Others defended him, saying he was only describing how wars decide national borders.

HasanAbi has not publicly responded to Asmongold’s clip yet, but fans of both creators have continued debating it online.
One Reddit user wrote, “It’s crazy how you can follow this guy’s radicalization.” Another said, “He’s just talking about how countries are formed. People are overreacting.”
The Austin, Texas-based streamer is one of Twitch’s biggest names and often talks about politics and culture. His latest comments have once again shown how quickly his words can divide the internet.
