41 trains cancelled

'Unprecedented' water level

Southeastern's high-speed services also affected

Southeastern, domestic train company of UK that uses the same tunnels also cancelled high-speed services . Steve White, managing director of Southeastern, said on X that a “huge effort is under way . . . to establish the source of the water and increase capacity to remove it”. (AFP)

Travel Plans disrupted

Many travelers stuck at the train stations sat on floors and suitcases and rushed to find last-minute accommodation or alternative plans. Eurostar said it was "extremely sorry for the unforeseen issues affecting our customers and services." (Image: Reuters)

Services also affected before Christmas

Eurostar services were also disrupted just before Christmas due to a strike by staff at Eurotunnel. Around 30 Eurostar trains were affected during the strike. (Image: AFP)
