NEW DELHI: The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza on Monday said that more than 29,092 Palestinians have lost their lives and 69,028 people have been injured since the Israel-Hamas war erupted on October 7.

A total of 107 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours, it added in a statement.

The conflict in Gaza began on October 7 when Hamas gunmen breached border defenses to attack Israeli towns, killing some 1,200 people and dragging 250 hostages back to Gaza, according to Israeli reports.

In November, a weeklong cease-fire led to the release of over 100 captives in exchange for 240 Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. In response, Israel launched a highly destructive military campaign in the Gaza Strip, which has been under Hamas rule since 2007.

Israel claims to have killed more than 10,000 Palestinian militants, but has not provided evidence. The military blames the high death toll on Hamas, citing their presence in densely populated residential areas.
