Clashes in The Hague

Timing of the attack

Hague municipality spokesperson Middel explained that a group loyal to Eritrea's government was holding a meeting when it was attacked by Eritreans who oppose the current African government.

'Number of injured unclear'

Police spokesperson Kristianne van Blanken mentioned that that the number of injured and apprehended are unclear for now. However, an AFP report later mentioned that atleast 4 police officers were injured during the clash.(Photo: Reuters)

The investigation

Police arrested several individuals and are urging witnesses to come forward with video footage as they investigate the riots.

Past clashes

In September 2023, violent incidents occurred during an Eritrean cultural festival in Stuttgart, Germany injuring 26 police officers. A similar confrontation in Tel Aviv between Eritrean government supporters and opponents led to violent street clashes among African asylum-seekers and migrants.
