Kim Jong Kook announces marriage on air; Leaves cast emotional, Song Ji Hyo even sheds a few tears

Kim Jong Kook recently announced that he is set to get married next month. While the announcement was made public a few days prior during a filming of his variety show, the official episode was broadcast only recently, with all of the members of the cast sharing their first reactions to the news.

On August 24, the official episode for 'Running Man' where the singer and TV personality announced his wedding had been shared online. The surprise announcement left all of the cast members of the show reeling with shock, with many commenting about how they do not feel like it is the truth.


Ji Suk Jin, who was also present in the episode, praised Jong Kook for keeping the secret for so long and also joked about the situation, saying, "If you were born in the past, you should have been an independence fighter".

Actress Song Ji Hyo ended up getting emotional after hearing the news. Jong Kook noticed her tears and asked if she was crying right now, to which the actress replied fondly, "I’m really touched right now".

HaHa, who was also on the show and is one of Jong Kook’s closest friends, was also touched by the moment. Jong Kook shared a hilarious anecdote about the two, where he shared that years ago, when HaHa got married and he found the news late, he had promised his dear friend that the only way he would share his wedding news would be through a news article. Jong Kook even added on while laughing, “I really wasn’t going to tell HaHa until the very end”.

Old comments from the actress from last year went viral after the marriage announcement. The actress has commented about how Jong Kook must be dating someone due to the fact that he seems to be a lot less angry. She had also commented at the time about how he might be planning this wedding as well.
