BTS' RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin begin mandatory military training: Here's all you need to know about their enlistment

Hold onto your ARMY bombs K-pop enthusiasts, because the BTS rollercoaster is taking a detour! Brace yourselves for another spell of BTS-less days as the fabulous four—RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—don camouflage gear instead of their iconic stage outfits. And while Jin, J-Hope and Suga continue their compulsory service. the BTS saga will continue, as the rest four join in.

RM and V enlistment plans

RM and V will being their mandatory military training from today, December 11. They have enlisted at the Korean Army Training Center in Nonsan, after a quick meeting with Jin, J-Hope, and Suga who are currently fulfilling their national duties. According to Dispatch, Kim Taehyung, also known as V, has applied for Army’s Capital Defense Command Battalion Task Force while RM will join a different sector. After serving for 18 months, RM and V will be discharged around June, 2025.

​Jimin and Jungkook to enlist together

In a recent statement, Big Hit Music has confirmed that Jimin and Jungkook will enlist together on December 12, entering the same camp. According to Dispatch, Jimin and Jungkook will join the Army’s 5th Infantry Division boot camp. Interestingly, Jin is currently enlisted as an assistant trainer here and looks like he will be training his fellow BTS members.

​Fans advised not to visit BTS during enlistment

In a solemn announcement echoing through the K-pop cosmos, Big Hit had released with a gentle plea, which implored fans to respect the sanctity of the moment. With a resolute tone, it emphasized that on the day of their entry, no official event will unfold, marking it as an intimate occasion exclusive to military personnel and their families. "The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. To prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, fans are advised to refrain from visiting the site," the agency stated.

​Suga and J-Hope continue to serve, Jin to be discharged in 2024

Jin commenced his service at the Yeoncheon training centre on December 13, 2022, transitioning to the role of an assistant instructor at the army base in Gyeonggi province. His anticipated return is slated for June 2024. Following suit, J-Hope stepped into the realm of compulsory service on April 18, marking the second BTS member to don the army uniform. Meanwhile, Suga, the third in line, embarked on his journey on September 22, uniquely assigned to a front-line boot camp, though deemed unfit for combat, likely linked to a previous shoulder surgery in 2020.
