The Family Man, Asur and more: OTT series to look forward to in 2023

The year is almost coming to an end. Content wise, 2022 has been path-breaking with a host of different genre shows streaming on OTT, right from cop dramas to crime thrillers to family sagas and more. And 2023 seems to promise much more. Here are some OTT shows you can look forward to in the coming year...

The Family Man, Season 3

An edgy action series on Prime Video, the Raj and DK directed show follows the life of Mumbai based Srikant Tiwari who works as an intelligence officer for the Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), a fictitious branch of the National Investigation Agency. He is also a middle-class husband and father and often struggles with balancing these two contrasting duties of his life. While the first two seasons were much appreciated, the third season is said to be based on terrorism in the North-Eastern part of the country.

Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side Season 2

Asur, starring Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti, Sharib Hashmi and Amey Wagh is the story of a fanatic serial killer with religious ties. The psychological, edge-of-the-seat drama, directed by Oni Sen pits two opposite worlds against each other as the battle of science vs faith results in mayhem and a bloody trail of innocent deaths. The first season is streaming on Voot and JioCinema.

Paatal Lok Season 2

A neo, dark, thriller, the series is the story of a cynical cop who is entrusted with the responsibility of investigating a high-profile case. As he digs deeper, he gets pulled into the dark realm of the underworld, as he slowly begins to lose his grip on reality, trying to get a better understanding of it all. Produced by actor Anushka Sharma under her banner Clean Slate Filmz, the series stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag, Neeraj Kabi, Swastika Mukherjee, Ishwak Singh and Abhishek Banerjee. Directed by Avinash Arun and Prosit Roy, you can watch the first season on Prime Video.

Apharan Season 3

Apharan Season 1 was one of the most watched series on Alt and MX Player. The second season was released on Voot. Apharan is the story of Rudra, a senior inspector, who kidnaps a young girl, after being lured by her mother. However, the kidnapping goes horribly wrong and Rudra lands himself in a soup and now risks not only losing his job, but also his life. Starring Arunoday Singh, Mahie Gill, Nidhi Singh and Varun Badola, the series was directed by Sidharth Sengupta.

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, Season 2

When the daughter of a powerful politician becomes obsessed with a common man, she will go down any path to attain him, breaking through all shackles of right and wrong. Enraged, the man slips down a dark path, that threatens to destroy anything and everything dear to him. Starring Tahir Raj Bhasin, Aanchal Singh and Shweta Tripathi, and directed by Sidharth Sengupta, the first season streamed on Netflix and instantly garnered rave reviews from the audience.
