Whether you are up for another journey to Middle Earth or in for another epic tale from the kingdom of Mahishmati, here's a list of upcoming web series based on hit movie franchises.

​Baahubali: Before the Beginning

Fans of the 'Baahubali' franchise can revisit the world of Mahishmati in a new series that will explore the journey of Sivagami. The series is a prequel to SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Beginning' and 'Baahubali: The Conclusion', and has been given a two-season order. Based on Anand Neelakantan's book, 'The Rise of Sivagami', the nine-episode series will chronicle Sivagami's journey from a rebellious and vengeful girl to a wise and unequalled queen. There was also buzz about an animated version of the popular epic in the works titled 'Baahubali: The Lost Legends'. This was reportedly set before the Kalakeya invasion depicted in the first movie and will focus on the lives of young Baahubali and Bhallaladeva.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Get ready for another adventure to Middle Earth. 'The Lord Of the Rings' series that has been in the works, got its official title - 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'. Based on JRR Tolkien's fabled 'Second Age' this series will chronicle Middle Earth's history when the rings were forged by Sauron. The epic drama will premiere on September 2, with new episodes dropping weekly. 'The Rings of Power' unites all the major stories from the forging of the rings to the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Numenor, and the last alliance of Elves and the men. The official synopsis for the series states that 'The Rings of Power' follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle Earth.

​Moana

After watching Moana of Motunui restore the heart of Te Fiti, fans can get ready to set sail on another adventure around the South Pacific in an upcoming musical animated series. 'Moana', which came out in 2016, saw a young girl being chosen by the ocean itself to save her people with some help from the demigod Maui. The new series will pick up right where the film left off and will follow her on new and exciting adventures. The series is expected to air in 2024.

The upcoming series titled 'Zootopia+', is expected to be an anthology-style series that will focus on some of the supporting cast from the original film. Starring Jenna Ortega from 'YOU", the live-action series taps into the life of Gomez and Morticia's only daughter as she discovers her psychic abilities and prevents a killing spree that has terrorised the town. She's also on a mission to unpack a supernatural mystery involving her parents 25 years ago.

​Smashing Simmba

Ranveer Singh's 2018 blockbuster 'Simmba' now has a small screen companion with the upcoming animated kids series 'Smashing Simmba'. The show, which will air on a TV channel, centres around the kiddie version of Singh's Simmba aka Sangram Bhalerao. It follows the hilarious cavorts of the quick-witted, mischievous, and fearless Simmba, who aspires to be a police officer.
