Woman's tweet about paying nearly Rs 500 for samosa and chai at airport goes viral
A woman on Twitter recently shared her experience of having some normal snacks at Mumbai Airport, which cost her a bomb.
Journalist Farah Khan posted a photo of her order that consisted of two average-sized samosas, a tea and a water bottle and the photo of the corresponding bill which showed a total of Rs 490 for just three basic food items.
Farah mocked the popular BJP slogan of “Acche Din” by captioning the post as, “Two samosas, one chai and one water bottle for 490 Rs at Mumbai airport!! Kafi ache din aa gae hain.”
The tweet went viral, garnering over 2 million views and thousands of retweets. A number of netizens commented on her tweet.
The fact that she paid way more than the prevailing market prices of the items consumed got everyone’s attention on the micro-blogging platform. She received a lot of support from users.
“We Live in Dubai but we want to complain about Indian airport. We can afford Dubai but we cant afford Samosa chai at Indian airport hypocrisy. FYI the Samosa chai in Aed at Mumbai airport is only 21-22 Aed which is at a highend Dubai cafe so why complain abt Indian Airport (sic),” quipped a user named Meghna.
Some section of users though appeared miffed with Farah for associating the pricey experience with BJP governance. They took dig at her for not complaining about it prior to 2014, when UPA government was in power.
Others politely reminded her that she can choose not to travel via air.
A user also mentioned that she should have tagged NCP leader Sharad Pawar as he pointed out that the ‘Travel Food Services’ which got the contract to manage food courts in the airport indirectly belongs to the son in law of Praful Patel.
It is not the first time Farah has shared her experience. As per her bio, she is a traveler, who regularly vlogs her traveling experiences.
