A video that has surfaced on social media and shows a dog chasing off a leopard out on a hunt has left netizens astonished and enthralled.

The short clip begins with a dog lying on a road, when a leopard suddenly pounces on it. It is pretty evident that the panther is out for a meal and jumps on the canine with the same intention.

However, as soon as the leopard leaps on, the dog, scared out of its wits, suddenly wakes up and instead counter-attacks the large cat by aggressively barking.

It is evident that the dog is quite frightened by the sudden turn of events as it tucks its tail between the rear legs (a sign of nervousness) but still puts up a fight to ward off the leopard. The dog makes sure that the leopard doesn’t have to know about its fear.

The combative counteroffensive by the dog surprises the leopard and it can be seen in how it starts moving away.

Ultimately, the fierce defense and the continuous retaliatory barking by the dog scares off the leopard as after facing its prey for a bit, it decides to retreat and back off.

The video seems to have been shot by someone in the vicinity inside a vehicle. It was posted by a Twitter user with a caption that read, “Had the dog showed fear, it would have died.”

Needless to say, the 16-second clip went viral on the micro-blogging platform with the internet hailing the dog as a ‘brave fighter’. It received over 1.2 lakh views and 5.6k likes. A user pointed out that “offense is the best form of defense.”

“Even a dog is a lion in its own lane,” commented one user.

Taking a cue from famous Sholay dialogue, another user commented, “Jo dar gaya woh mar gaya” (the one who’s scared dies eventually).
